Pigmentation
Melasma: planning for long-term care
Melasma care begins with understanding the pigmentation and its triggers.
Start with the diagnosis
Not every dark patch is melasma. An examination helps distinguish it from other pigment concerns and guides a suitable treatment plan.
Daily care matters
Sun protection and prescribed skincare are important parts of management. Procedures may be added for selected patients; they are not a substitute for the daily plan.
Think beyond one session
Melasma can return. Discuss realistic improvement, maintenance and the possibility of irritation or increased pigmentation. Bring the names of current products and a record of previous treatment reactions.
